"The research is clear."
A document from the School of Education  and Allied Professions at Miami of Ohio University highlights the central, pivotal, personal role of the teacher: "The research is clear on this point: technology in and of itself does not significantly improve students' learning. Rather, the critical variable is how the teacher uses technology." Students I meet in writing workshops and author visits crave personal attention. No matter how many bells and whistles are put on a computer, it can never match the effect of a caring, loving teacher saying, "Well done" or "I know you can do better." — JG
